TripleLift
TripleLift is a native supply source. Ads on TripleLift are automatically reformatted to display nicely according to the publisher's template.
Basis has 2 exchanges for TripleLift Inventory:
TripleLift TLX: Native Image, Specialty Native Formats (Wizard), and Branded Video (aka Native Video)
TripleLift HDX: Banner, Instream, and CTV

Technical Considerations
We now receive regular native inventory from TripleLift. Unless you are using TripleLift's specialty formats, you should upload ads using the Basis' native functionality.
In order for the creatives to be eligible to win, they need to be approved by TripleLift. Creatives are usually approved within 24-48 hrs after being approved internally.
Viewability Measurement
Internal
When true native ads are used (using the Basis' native ads functionality), viewability measurement is supported using the built-in DSP viewability measurement feature.
External
TripleLift permits whitelisted JavaScript measurement tags to be delivered with ads. This enables customers to run viewability measurement tags from third-party companies. Specifically, Integral Ad Science (IAS) and DV (DoubleVerify) are whitelisted.
When using Basis' native ads, you should be able to include such measurement tags using Multiple Impression Trackers support, as specified in our own documentation.
If using TripleLift Wizard ads, you must input the third-party script from TripleLift's Wizard UI in the JavaScript viewability tracker field.
IAS
You should input the script URL only, not the HTML snippet as provider by IAS. Additionally, it's critical that the IAS tags are append mode, which is not the default. Failing to have this set correctly will lead to no measurement. You should inquire with IAS before proceeding.
Example snippet as provided by IAS (DO NOT ENTER THIS):
<SCRIPT TYPE="application/javascript" SRC="https://pixel.adsafeprotected.com/rjss/st/1234/1234/skeleton.js"></SCRIPT> <NOSCRIPT><IMG SRC="https://pixel.adsafeprotected.com/rfw/st/1234/1234/skeleton.gif" BORDER=0 WIDTH=1 HEIGHT=1 ALT=""></NOSCRIPT>
Only the script URL only needs to be extracted and entered, as shown below.
https://pixel.adsafeprotected.com/rjss/st/1234/1234/skeleton.js
DoubleVerify
Theoretically DoubleVerify should work. If this comes up as a need, please inquire with Basis' RTB Operations, and we will gather further details.
TripleLift Creative Wizards Ads
Use Basis' native ads functionality unless there is a good reason to do otherwise.
While using Basis' native functionality is now recommended for standard native ads, you can run ads using the TripleLift Creative Wizard. These are to be uploaded as dummy 333x333 ad tags. In Basis, they are just arbitrary ad tags, but when loaded on TripleLift inventory, they trigger the native ad, which are stored on TripleLift's servers to display.
Inserting DSP macros to the tracking URLs when you set up the ad using TripleLift Creative Wizard will not work. The URLs are stored on TripleLift's servers. Basis cannot substitute macros in code it does not handle.
Please consult the below specs and the attached trafficking guide for details on how to set up a TripleLift campaign using Wizard ads. You should supply the trafficking guide to your clients if they are using Wizard ads.
Uploading the Ad to Basis
When uploading the ad, upload as a standard Ad Tag, size 333x333.
Include this in the ad name: “Triplelift Creative Wizard”.
The custom tags MUST be uploaded with the 333x333 special size. Failure to do so will result in the ads delivering on other exchanges and publishers where they aren't permitted and may not render properly. This is a serious ad quality violation. Refunds will not be provided.
Campaign Targeting
Make sure that you only target the relevant TripleLift inventory.
Contact Support
Since this is not normally a permissible ad, you need to specially request approval for these ads. They may be denied during the review process otherwise. After you have configured the ads and campaigns, please contact Basis support and request special approval of these ads. Indicate the ad ID and state that you have correctly targeted your campaigns and are not using the ad in any other campaigns targeting other inventory.
Native Video
TripleLift native video ads are supported on Basis, with the following conditions:
-
The tag you get from the TripleLift wizard must still be uploaded as a 333x333 display tag, even if it's video.
-
Do not use any video targeting in Basis. Consider the tag as a display tag.
-
You must supply your own VAST markup or VAST URL in the TripleLift wizard.
-
Basis can't track things like video starts, video completes, or quartiles completed.
Placements accepting native video ads are also presented to Basis as outstream video ads. Consider buying that instead; it is simply normal video inventory for Basis, is treated as such, and uses standard video ads.
Creative Specs
See TripleLift's Creative Asset Guide.
Here are some examples of how the ads might appear:
Best Practices
Do | Don't |
---|---|
Do use products set in real environments. Historically, these have tended to perform better than products in isolation. | Don't crop the image. TripleLift takes care of ensuring the image fits perfectly across every placement. |
Do send us engaging photos. Vibrant pictures are more likely to catch the eye. | Don't send images with text. Let the image speak for itself. |
Do send a click-through URL that is somewhat associated with the creative. Don’t send users to a page that leaves them confused as to why they clicked. | Don't send an image with a logo. TripleLift pairs these two assets together. |
Do explore all the image options at your fingertips. From blogs to product pages, you likely have a treasure trove of impactful images. | Don't use banner ad creative. Your image, logo, and copy will come together to form a beautiful ad. |
