Adding New Creatives

Add new creatives to the DSP from the Creative panel or the tactic editor.

After adding new creatives, it's important to test them to make sure that they behave as expected and click through to the right destination. For ad tags, it's also important to make sure that the DSP tracks user clicks. See Previewing Creatives for more information.

To add new creatives:

  1. Go to Main Menu [] > Campaigns.

  2. Select the campaign and media plan.

  3. Above the DSP line items, select DSP ActionsCreative. Create a DSP line item if you don't already have one.

  4. On the Creative panel, select Add.

  5. Select the type of creative that you want to add:

    • Ad Tag: An ad tag is a piece of HTML code that shows an ad, generally using a third-party ad server. You might receive the code from an agency or generate it yourself using a tool provided by the ad server. See Uploading New Ad Tags for more information.

    • Audio: A sound file that will be hosted on the DSP. See Uploading Audio Ads for more information.

    • Expandable Ad Tag: An ad tag that expands when the user interacts with it.

    • HTML5: An HTML5 ad uploaded to the DSP. HTML5 files must meet the IAB standards for HTML5, which are defined in HTML5 for Digital Advertising v2.0. If your HTML5 creative is hosted on another server, create the ad by uploading an ad tag. There are no special steps for configuring ad tags for HTML5 ads. See Uploading HTML5 Creatives.

    • Image: An image ("banner ad") hosted by the DSP. See Uploading Image Ads for more information.

    • MRAID Ad Tag: Mobile Rich Media Ad Interface Definitions (MRAID), the IAB standard API for mobile rich media ads. See Uploading_New_Ad_Tags for more information.

    • Native: An ad that will be integrated into a publisher's news feed or similar core site elements. See Uploading Native Ads for more information.

    • VAST: VAST (Video Ad Serving Template) is the IAB's standard for communicating the details of video ad serving. This standard handles the display of ads in, on, or around a video or audio player. See Uploading VAST Tags for more information.

    • Video: A video that will be hosted on the DSP. See Uploading Videos for more information.

    • Bulk Ad Tag: A collection of ad tags stored in a single TXT file. See Bulk Uploading Ad Tags for more information.

    • Bulk Image: A collection of images stored in a single ZIP file. See Uploading Image Ads and Bulk Uploading Ads for more information.

    • Bulk Native: A collection of native ads stored in a single ZIP file, along with an optional Excel file. See Bulk Upload Native Ads and Bulk Uploading Ads for more information.

    • Bulk HTML5: A collection of HTML 5 ads stored in a single ZIP file. See Bulk Uploading HTML5 and Bulk Uploading Ads for more information.

    • Bulk VAST: A collection of ad tags stored in a TXT or XLSX file. See Bulk Uploading VAST Ads and Bulk Uploading Ads for more information.

For most creative types, Basis supports including an Excel (XLSX) file when bulk uploading. This file defines each ad's properties, such as its name or destination URL. See Bulk Uploading Ads to find formatting details and blank templates for different creative types.

  6. After uploading the creative file and providing the required details, select Save. The date the creative was uploaded appears on the Creative panel.

After uploading creatives, make sure to preview them and link them to tactics.
